The Lord Mayor of the City of London has today visited Surgical Innovations as part of a tour around Leeds to see how the city is at forefront of innovation and engineering.

The visit, which has been organised by Financial Leeds and Leeds Chamber, gave Yorkshire-born David Wootton the chance to enjoy a tour around SI’s design and manufacturing head office and see for himself why surgeons around the world are choosing to use SI’s innovative surgical devices.

Graham Bowland, CEO of Surgical Innovations, said: “I am delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor to Surgical Innovations. We are renowned as being at the forefront of medical device innovation and ‘added-value’ in-house manufacturing. Our unique ‘Resposable™’ instruments are used by surgeons throughout the world, enhancing the Leeds City Region’s growing reputation as a centre for medical device technology.”

During the visit to Leeds the Lord Mayor of the City of London also met with senior figures from Leeds’ financial services sector to provide his party with information on Leeds’ specialism’s and how it can complement the capital’s offer.

Mark Goldstone, head of policy at Leeds Chamber of Commerce, says: “The Lord Mayor’s visit provides an excellent opportunity to enhance the relationship between Leeds and the City of London. As the UK’s second largest financial services sector, Leeds’ financial services sector offers many skills and specialism’s that London and the other city’s do  not have and we want to make to make the Lord Mayor aware of these before he embarks on his international tour.
